Friday Five: a day in the life

Happy Friday! Once again I am linking up with Mar on the RunYou Signed Up for What?, and Eat Pray Run DC for the Friday Five link up.  If you haven't checked it out already you should...it's a great way to discover new blogs about running and fitness :)

This week we are sharing a day in the life, so here are five pictures of my day yesterday!

1)
Went to Pure Barre first thing in the morning.

2)
Did some browsing at Barnes and Noble in my new favorite shoes.

3)
Went to Costco for all sorts of goodies.

4)
Ok I actually went to Costco twice. Took my lunch break to go back and get cupcakes for a coworkers birthday!

5)
Spent a long of time driving on I4.

And that was my day in a nut shell! What does your day look like!

Friday Five: Favorite Summer Drinks

I Happy Friday! Once again I am linking up with Mar on the RunYou Signed Up for What?, and Eat Pray Run DC for the Friday Five link up.  If you haven't checked it out already you should...it's a great way to discover new blogs about running and fitness :)

Today we are talking about favorite summer drinks! With the heat and humidity in Orlando it's important to stay hydrated so this is a fun one :)

1) Water. I know it's a little bit boring, but in the summer I can really feel the difference in my body if I don't drink enough.

2) Juices. Not the 1% juice concentrate stuff. Real juice. It's so fresh and tasty! First Watch has this green juice that has kale and green apples and is delicious.

3) Iced coffee. Usually from Dunkin, although Krispy Kreme has some feat iced coffee too. This is my favorite mid day pick me up.

4) Smoothies. This is my go to way of getting some kind of nutrients in my body when it's just too hot to eat real food. Throw in some protein powder and I am a happy cover with actual calories to run my body haha.

5) Beer. Ok technically fall beers are my favorite, but the lighter citrus beers of summer are also a great choice!

So there you have it! My five favorite summer drink :)
What are you drinking?

Mundane Monday

Do you ever feel like your days off just disappear and you aren't really sure what happened? Today was that day for me.
Part of the problem was that I spent the vast majority of my morning dealing with my car. The allignment was off and my back tire was majorly SOL. Long story short they had to replace two tires...but they replaced the wrong ones and left the damaged one on. So I had to wait again to have that fixed. Pretty sure I'm sending Charlie to do all future car related things. I feel like more "masculine" places assume that I am a girl and know nothing so they do it their way and ignore what I am saying. Yay feminism.
During the first wait I did some shopping and bought new kakhis for work (boring), this awesome shirt (which is backwards because my phone hates me) and a one pound tub of rhinestones for wedding related crafts (yay shiny things!)
Post car repair nonsense I got to go to Costco (aka my most favorite place of all time) bought some essentials, and had a totally nutritious lunch. Or something like that.
After Costco it was time for Pure Barre where they were also doing a body composition analysis with Max Muscle (post about that coming tomorrow!)
Then it was a stop at Moes to pick up dinner and homeward bound. Yum yum burrito bowl. And yes that is my cat in the background. And yes she is trying to steal my guac. Jerk.

I left the house at 8:15 this morning and somehow those few activities added up to almost 12 hours!

How was your day? Did it fly by too?!

Everlast Vegan Protein Review

Disclaimer: I received Everlast Vegan Protein to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!

I am not a vegan, however I was excited for the opportunity to try Everlast Vegan Protein because I do have some lactose sensitivity. It's usually not a big deal, but sometimes the strangest things will upset my stomach. I am happy to report that I had no problems with this protein powder! Yay!

In addition to being vegan, it's also delicious. Like really really good. I think we've all tried a protein drink at some point and it tasted like eating sand right? Not this time. And I was far from a professional at preparing it the first time I tried it! I am actually without a kitchen and therefore without a blender at the moment. Usually my go to use for protein powder is putting it in my morning smoothie. Without a morning smoothie that was not exactly going to work. So I got the bright idea to get a pre made smoothie from Costco and pour my little packet of protein in there!
Obviously it was a little lumpy, but the lumps weren't gross. That makes it a big winner in my book.

In the picture you will see that the sample I had was vanilla. Now we all know there are a million versions of vanilla flavor and, if you've been lured on by the smell and tasted vanilla extract, you will know that not all are yummy. This version of vanilla is like vanilla pudding. I loved it.

Thanks to tasting it in the smoothie, I finally got up the courage to use a blender bottle for the very first time. To understand my apprehension, please refer to previous statements about gritty nasty protein drinks. The fear was there.
Of course, now that I've tried it I don't know why I was ever nervous! I was very very happy with the results and didn't have to cringe my way through the drink reminding myself that it was good for me. I actually wanted more when it was gone!  I just used one packet of the powder and some vanilla almond milk and not only did it taste good, but it got me through the morning until lunch without any hangry moments.

In the Florida heat I am not a big fan of real food, but I've also been told that the human body can't live on just watermelon for too long, so this is a great option for getting some nutrition without having to cook (and make more heat in the house) or eat something heavy that makes you feel gross all day.

Overall I am a big fan of Everlast Vegan Protein. If you read the disclaimer at the top you know I got samples to try for free, but I pinkie promise I plan on ordering more!  If you want some of you r own, you can order it here: http://www.everlastnutrition.com/everlast-vp-pro-vegan-protein-mix

Silver Lining Moments

PFun fact: I am writing this while sweating it out in the drive through of the bank waiting to deposit some money. For some reason it always takes for dang ever. It's easy to get irritated waiting and wishing I was back inside eating the Italian Ice I am getting after this. Today I realized how lucky I am though. I am here for work so I am technically working even though I am getting some time to myself. It's not really a fun adventure or anything, but I get to scroll through Twitter and Bloglovin while I wait!  Over and over in life I find that my situation is directly influenced by my attitude. Sooooo...today I am going to just share a few happy things that weren't a big deal but made me smile.
-I had to get up early, but I made it to Pure Barre class first thing in the morning and it was a great start to the day as always.
-After Pure Barre I got iced coffee from Dunkin which is never ever ever a bad idea.
-I also stopped at the store and (finally) bought eyeliner and I feel normal again!

-While waiting at the bank I discovered the tutorial for this super cute metal awning on Shanty to Chic and I am pretty much obsessed with it.

-Post bank run I got Jeremiahs Italian ice! Watermelon and Passion fruit were a great combo.

-I wasn't able to go running after work because there was a storm...again. But now I'm home eating pita chips and hummus and as I finish typing this up I am realizing that days don't have to be particularly outstanding to be good if you just take the time to remember all the good things that did happen!

Did you have a good day today?

July Coffee Date

Good morning! I've been telling everyone all week that I can't believe it's July already! Now it's the Fourth of July...so I hope you are reading this from a beach or lake somewhere or at least getting some time to relax with friends and family!

First I want to share that I had great coffee and a bagel at Brooklyn Water Bagels yesterday...so I would want us to be eating that right now :)

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I was supposed to go to the beach today, but a last minute change of plans meant going elsewhere. We decided to go explore the Daytona Flea and Farmers market which was pretty exciting. It's still not like the flea markets you think of with all the old furniture and odds and ends. It's still more dollar store junk than anything. Have you ever been to a really great flea market?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am hoping to open an Etsy store soon and I feel like I have been running in circles trying to figure out the legal things I have to do first. I knew I should have been a business major!   I am l, however, looking forward to using my crafty skills.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we are still in the process of finding a place to live  our current situation is fine, but I can't reply use the kitchen and I can't have my dog. So I am hoping by our next coffee date I'll be able to share that we are situated in our own place and I'll have my dog back!

That's all for me today...we are off to find lunch and a fireworks show!
Happy Fourth of July!
Hope to catch up with you all soon :)

Friday Five: Happy Fourth of July

Happy Friday! Once again I am linking up with Mar on the RunYou Signed Up for What?, and Eat Pray Run DC for the Friday Five link up.  If you haven't checked it out already you should...it's a great way to discover new blogs about running and fitness :)

This week we are talking about the Fourth of July, so I wanted to share with you my five favorite Fourth of July foods! This will be our second year spending the Fourth at the beach and I am looking forward to simple food to pack and snack on throughout the day!

1) Watermelon! I cube it up and pack ziplock bags full...and we usually eat all of it before too long.

2) Cherries! This one it a tie with watermelon for my favorite summer fruit. Nothing says summer like cherries!

3) Broccoli/cauliflower/velveeta salad. It also has bacon. I grew up eating this all summer and I love it. It does not seem to exist on Pinterest, so I'll share pics and a recipe soon!

4) Shrimp! Easy and quick to cook, and perfectly beachy though we will be eating it at home at the end of the day.

5) Pie! We are currently debating between apple and key lime pie, but you really can't go wrong with either!

Now that I'm hungry, I'm off to work then the grocery store! What are you doing for the Fourth? And what will you be eating?!
